My name is Lynne Place and I am a PreHiSET teacher at the Literacy Program. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a Master of Arts in History. Prior to coming to the Literacy Program, I was a social studies teacher at Pembroke High School. After 21 years of teaching some of the finest young men and women, I decided to retire to spend more time with my family.
To say I missed teaching is an understatement. I am so thankful that I will be able to continue my passion for teaching at the Literacy Program. One of my favorite quotes is by Maya Angelou which says "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." It is my hope that I will always make my students feel welcomed, empowered, and passionate about learning new things, great or small.
I am, at heart, a history nerd and can be seen wearing a variety of history related t-shirts on Fridays. I also love to golf, exercise, chase my two-year-old grandson around, and take my rescue dog Cruiser for walks.
